True Match Tresses is a first-of-its-kind wig program focused on providing wig looks for Black, Hispanic and Asian women undergoing cancer treatment.
A wig that truly matches you doesn’t compromise on quality or make you feel like someone else. When facing cancer, you want to look and feel as if you don’t have cancer. But finding that match is a challenge, especially for women of color, who struggle to find a natural look through other subsidized wig programs.
When we realized that disparity, we decided to act. Using the diversity of Miami women as our inspiration and partnering with Leadership Miami and local, black-owned businesses, we launched True Match Tresses. We are proud to offer various wig styles available to women undergoing cancer treatment created by Sexy Diva Hair and Viva la France Beauty. Equal access to a dignified wig look means everyone should be able to find their true match.

THE STORY

The idea for more access to subsidized wigs for women of color going through cancer was submitted as a project for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami program. Selected by Cohort 44’s SERV305 team, the initiative grew under their stewardship.
SERV305 vetted quality wig makers, fundraised $10,000 for 305 Pink Pack to maintain a stock of wig styles, and promoted the new initiative (originally named The Power of Hair) in order to launch this first-ever program. We are so grateful for these partnerships and support and plan to expand the program to reach even more women.
